A friend asked me to do a large painting for a charity auction she's involved with, and I welcomed the chance to do something for them.
So I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show you the painting as it progresses. It's gonna end up being a large, open white poppy.
I got smart this time and painted the gallery edges first, so I wouldn't have to be cranky later that they weren't done yet.
Then I gridded it and laid in the flower. I grid when I want the proportions to be close to right on, then I don't have to do so much proportion correction later!

Custom tailored
My daughter wanted something special to place above the bar for her hubby's birthday party. And it needed to have a Mexican theme.
So we collaborated on this Day of the Dead acrylic painting, incorporating things that he loves. The eyes and saying are from a musical group that he likes.
Then there's the ASU pitchfork, cigars, cards and his favorite beer. Cartoons of my daughter and grandsons are on the face cards.
We thought it turned out pretty cool, and he liked it too!

Have to pick three!
A client ordered three berry bowls for gifts, so I made seven, just in case. Which three do you like? The bottom ones look paler in the picture than they are.

What I did on my summer vacation...
Just finished this little watercolor of a picture I took on the beach this summer.
I think the chairs were gathered for a summer school class. Now that's how you do summer school!
Ya gotta love California.
