Wizards!

Taught two clay classes on Saturday.  We made Wizards and they turned out great!

I'm going to go pick them up this morning and I'll post a picture of the results tomorrow.

The kids had a lot of fun and I was totally pooped at the end of the day.

Registration for new classes is this summer.  I'll let you know the dates.

Cool idea ffor the front of your house

My mud buddy, Steve, made one of these for a friend, and I liked it so much I asked him to make me one with a quail on it. Then I did the underglazing.

How cool is this?  I can't wait to hang it up on my front wall.  Well, actually, you know, I can't wait for MY HUSBAND to hang it up on my front wall.

You know me and tools.  It's just not happening.

Steve said he could make them for people, with what they want on them.  For a fee, of course.

My next painting

Flowers in the front yard bloomed this morning.  Wouldn't this be a beautiful painting?

A lot of work, though.....

The animal in me...

For the last year or so I've been making these little bowl and pitcher sets.  They can be used for syrup and fruit, or cream and sugar, whatever...

Recently I decided to try animal patterns on them.

So.... what do you think, yes or no?

New glaze combo

Clay Hands Gallery in Tubac takes my luminarias for sale in the fall.  So since I'm the "Plan WAY Ahead" type, I've begun my fall quota.

Greg Strange, at Ironwood Studio, gave me an idea for a new glaze combination:  LA Blue over Cranberry.  I thought it went well with the stars motif.  Whad'ya think?

Watercolor class

I taught two back-to-back watercolor classes to kids ranging from 6 to 14 this last Saturday.  Fell asleep at 6:30 when I got home, pooped!

This is a wonderful program, sponsored by the Chandler Center for the Arts, through Vision Gallery, www.visiongallery.org, called Vision Kidz.  The lessons range from pencil, through fiber art, watercolor, origami, all kinds of stuff.  It's free to the kids, and you can sign up through Vision Gallery.  The parents were great helpers as well.

Project for HOPE

One of my best buddies volunteers at Hope Animal Shelter in Tucson.  Their spring fund raiser is called "Paws of the Past.  It's held at Brandi Fenton Park in Tucson, on May 19th this year, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be music, food, drink, pet massage, henna painting, animal events, and a silent auction.  I just finished this retablo to put in the silent auction.

It honors all the cats and dogs that have found their "fur"ever homes through HOPE which is a no-kill animal shelter.  If you're not a Tucson person, and would still like to help out, their address is 2011 E. 12th St., Tucson, 85719.  A check for any amount can buy food for the furries.

Getting ready

No pictures today.  Have a new commission and finishing some others.  Coffee table and vase were purchased by a happy client.  Getting ready to teach my first watercolor class at the end of the week.  A little nervous about it, hope it goes well.

So I'm heading to my studio to do lesson planning!
